Who Is Sojourning Sara?

Hi, I’m Sara — a small-town girl living in a big, wide world.

Tucked away in the mountains of rural Idaho, I have a life that is often calm and quiet, but my love of travel adds in a variety of adventurous moments I have come to crave.

I have spent so many years consuming travel, and now I want to produce something, to contribute my experience to the travel world. With the Sojourning Sara blog, I aim to offer destination-specific travel advice and reviews, concrete trip planning strategies, stories of adventure, and reflections on the transformative power of travel.

How It Began

On my sixteenth birthday, I flew in an airplane for the first time. When I stepped off the plane in Rome, Italy, I knew I had entered a new era. I would never be able to view life as I had before. I mean, once you’ve tasted gelato, there’s really no going back, right?

After graduating from college, I took a job as a public school teacher and later as an online English teacher. No, I didn’t quit my job to travel the world. I have kept my job so I can travel the world yet not become numb in the nomadic life. I feared that, if I traveled full-time, my greatest passion would become mundane. I love my job, and I love to travel. You can do both, and this blog can show you how.

Whether you are an avid traveler or an armchair traveler, you can find treasures here to help whet your wanderlust.
